Lake View Studios

Spring Valley is a lovely setting, with lots of green indigenous trees, fresh air, and a very safe feel. There are beautiful cats around too, and Sidi and Sana became my friends. The place is clean, and I’d love to return anytime. It’s self catering, so come prepared. The room has cooking, warming and washroom facilities, with hot water.

There’s free Wi-Fi, but you’ll need to buy your own bottled water since none is provided. The studio is warm and cosy in Lake view estate, fully furnished as a 1BHK. You can sit outside in the open area and enjoy nature. Inside, there’s a queen size bed, a breakfast table for two, a wooden almirah for luggage and a small modern kitchen with a kettle, microwave and hob. The bathroom is neat and good. The shower unit is small, but manageable, and they provide basic amenities.

The area is beautiful and felt very safe, right beside a security check-point and the UN. The free Wi-Fi was appreciated, although having to enter the codes repeatedly on the computer got a bit annoying. I’d had a terrible experience with a private taxi in Nairobi before and was nervous, but Lake View Studios suggested Noah. He was punctual and professional, and made us feel safe. We had a sensational stay. My mother has had several shoulder surgeries, and the bed felt far too firm the first night. We told the manager in the morning, and within a few hours they brought a new, very soft mattress that was incredibly comfortable for the rest of our stay. The rooms are adorable, and the staff were so attentive and sweet. They took great care of us, finding lost items, bringing drinking water when we needed it, and locating an UberEats driver who was a bit lost. For the price and the place, Lake View is a gem, and we’ll definitely be back.

The setting is serene and the site is beautiful, which makes the experience all the more disappointing. Check-in took ages, and the reception staff weren’t courteous. The host, John, was extremely arrogant and unwilling to help with client issues. A pathetic experience from the start.
