Magnolia Pine B&B

We paid $70 usd in Nairobi, and I expected much better service and quality. This was a home stay, not a hotel. The lady lives downstairs and gave us a room upstairs. There were no signs on the door, so it was difficult to find, and the address had no street number. There’s no lift, and the staircase to the first floor is very narrow, making large suitcases hard to carry. There’s no bar or restaurant, just breakfast, and no fridge in the room. We couldn’t sit down to the full breakfast because of our early outbound flight, so the lady gave us a banana and an orange each. The toilet flush was faulty, and the internet didn’t work on the second floor. We arrived in the afternoon and found there was nowhere to eat lunch, so we had to take a taxi to a nearby shopping village and eat at the cafe there. The window had been left open to let air in, and we didn’t realize until later that there was no fly screen, so a few mosquitoes got inside. Right across from the property are a few little shops made of wood and tin. We could hear loud talking and yelling from them until 10 pm. There was just one small light in the middle of the whole room. Our bed was away from the window, with three solid walls around it, so there was very little light.

I love this cozy, quiet, and very clean hotel. The staff are so nice, friendly, and helpful. I’d definitely recommend it.

A lovely garden and a swimming pool make this a great place to stay, especially if you love nature and want peace away from noise and bars. The staff are very smart and active.

A good atmosphere, with a big, quaint room that’s comfortable too. It feels very safe.
