Nyati Hill Cottages

There’s no restaurant on site, but the shared kitchen is very nice. A local resort delivered a delicious Indian dinner, and we ate by candlelight beside the pool. It felt magical. The pool was nice and nearly as warm as the hospitality. This is a small, rather tucked-away property, beautifully cared for, with lovely gardens and paths overlooking the southern edge of Nairobi National Park. A wonderful place to relax between the park and the city.

I loved Nyati Hills when we stayed there in September 2018. It’s secluded and felt like a little haven of peace to me, though my partner would have preferred more of the city’s bustle. The bedrooms are in small cottages, each with its own separate kitchen area. From the pool, you look straight into Nairobi national park, and you might spot animals if you’re lucky. There were few other guests while we were there, so we almost had the place to ourselves. If you can hire a car with a chauffeur for the day, there are several tourist attractions nearby. The food from a nearby restaurant was delicious.

Parking was easy and well organized, and the customer service was top-notch from the moment I walked in. The food was full of flavor, with every bite a treat. The chefs deserve plenty of credit for it. I had an unforgettable visit to [restaurant and would gladly recommend [Place/Restaurant for a date night, a family outing, or a meal worth remembering.

We booked five days for our parents’ 25th wedding anniversary, but left on day three. The stay was distressing from the start: there were no lights, the toilet seat was detached and dangerous, there was no hot water, and the pool was freezing despite being advertised as solar-heated. The rooms were dirty, and we were told to reuse filthy towels from the floor. After we complained, a staff member was reprimanded. Soon afterward, we found soap inside the main 20L drinking water container. Staff who live on the property had access to it. The timing made us strongly suspect retaliation, and we felt extremely unsafe staying overnight in such an isolated place. On the last day, staff actions raised further safety concerns, and someone tried to interfere with evidence we had kept. We went from dealing with poor service to fearing for our safety. Rain came through the roof and damaged our electronics. The manager, Ann, was rude and dismissive, took no responsibility, and later said the property wasn’t maintained because it was being sold. We were refused a full refund, payments had been taken through personal lines, and no one helped us when we left. As we departed, new guests were treated noticeably better, which felt deeply offensive. The online reviews don’t match what we experienced and seem misleading. I’m a Local Guide and would never recommend this place. It’s a waste of money and not worth risking your safety or peace of mind. Stay somewhere else.
