Ololo Safari Lodge

The rooms are stylish and really comfortable, and I loved the design throughout Ololo Lodge. The food was delicious, with produce from the organic farm next door, so ask about taking a farm tour. Everyone on staff was lovely. Ololo Safaris also arranged our full trip to the Masai Mara and Lamu, including the travel, activities, and places to stay along the way, and it all went wonderfully. The game drives in the morning and afternoon were great too. I'd happily recommend Ololo for planning an African adventure.

The thing that made Ololo feel luxurious to me was the setting and the people, rather than fancy finishes or overdone opulence. I’ve stayed in high-end hotels from Dubai and India to London and the United States, and Ololo deserves to be in that company. The team were caring and attentive, and made me feel that nothing was too much trouble. That kindness mattered a lot when travel disruptions and extreme weather left me stranded in Kenya. The staff helped sort out my onward trip and find a train, and even put up their own money to help get the ticket when things got complicated. Lemmy also spent time helping me plan the rest of my itinerary, with calm, useful guidance. On safari, Washington was knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife. He worked hard to find animals, and thanks to his skill we saw all of the Big Five that live in the park, as well as many other species. James, our host, paid close attention to my hydration and food on the hot days, always checking that I had enough water and was being looked after. The meals were fresh, flavourful, healthy, beautifully presented, and made with locally grown ingredients. Compliments to the chefs. I’ll also remember the storm when the team stayed calm and guided us safely back, making a potentially stressful moment feel like an adventure. The stay left me loving Kenya and its people as well as the hotel. Their warmth and generosity were special. Thanks to the whole Ololo team for an unforgettable visit.

We got to watch wildlife wander by while having breakfast, and monkeys even hung around on our porch. Ololo Safari Lodge is beautiful, with the cottages feeling cozy and just right for a honeymoon. My wife and I had an incredible stay. The food was fresh and outstanding, with everything grown on the farm. Gems, our server, was always making sure we had what we needed, and all the staff were wonderful. The owner took time to chat with us too, and seemed like a genuinely nice guy. His dog Fred was a lodge favorite. Our driver Soi was friendly and helpful, and made sure we were safe and cared for throughout. One of the best places we’ve stayed, truly.

We couldn’t have asked for a better honeymoon. It felt so personal: people knew we were celebrating and congratulated us, and there were gifts in the room that we really appreciated. Everyone was kind and helpful, and the food was very, very good. Ololo has a lovely family atmosphere. Washington was an incredible guide, and we were so grateful for his knowledge. I only wish we’d managed to meet Jim. I did get to meet Fred, the golden retriever superstar, though.
