Shalom House

The garden is lovely, but it's rented out for events, so expect noise and people coming and going every day. That made it hard to find the quiet and peace I’d want from a stay, especially for couples, families or regular guests. Sentimental may have cultural prestige, but the high ratings on some lists didn’t prepare me for the problems with cleanliness and noise. At this price, you can rent another suitable apartment.

Along Ngong road beside the Catholic church, this is a nice venue for small or medium-sized weddings. There are also attractive cafes and pizzerias. Apparently the pizza place makes the best Italian pizza in town, though don’t quote me if that’s not true 😄.

The green areas make a peaceful break from Nairobi’s busy streets. It’s a calm place for meetings, with large conference rooms, and the food is good too.

The staff are very friendly, and it’s a secure guest house. One problem: the shower screens splash water across the whole bathroom. At night, cockroaches spread around the room when the lights are off. Aside from that, it’s a great place.
