The Alps Hotel

The better room I was moved to in the main storey building met the basic standard I expected, and was much better than the first one. That first night was in an old building by the main gate, in what may be the worst hotel room I sleep in this year. It badly needed renovation, which I noted on the in-room feedback form. Other guests told me the same was true of the rest of the rooms in that building. I complained and was moved. Meal choices were limited, and the conference facilities could use improvement. The hotel also needs a gym or wellness area. I looked online for nearby gyms, but the good ones seemed too far away, so I couldn’t keep up my fitness routine. My experience at The Alps Hotel Nakuru was a mixed bag.

We ordered a platter at the restaurant, but its steak was far too salty. After we complained, the kitchen took it back, then packed and returned that very same over-salted piece. We only found out when we got home and started eating.

Dinner took a while, but breakfast from the buffet was great. The service otherwise wasn’t that good. Our twin room had comfortable beds and hot water, and somehow it wasn’t cold. There were snacks in the room too, though they were extremely costly.

From the slopes of Menengai Crater, Alps Hotel in Nakuru City looks out over Lake Nakuru and the wide expanse of Nakuru town. You can also see the rolling peaks of lion hill, nyandurua ranges, and the western escarpments of the Great Rift Valley. A picturesque location in @magicalkenya.
