We loved seeing the hotel’s ostrich, peacocks, and other animals wandering around the grounds. The lodge is also very close to the park gate, which made getting in and out easy. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets had plenty of choices, from hot and cold drinks to fresh salads, hot dishes, fruit, and desserts. Everything was pleasant and more than met our expectations. The staff are what make the place feel special. Their genuine smiles, kindness, and willingness to help or chat made us feel welcome. The lodge and tents were comfortable, luxurious, and calming, with pretty much everything we needed for an easy, relaxing stay. We’d absolutely come back ☺️

Of all the places we stayed during our eight days in Kenya, this camp was my favorite. It felt clean and well equipped as soon as we walked into reception. I’d definitely recommend it and would choose it again on my next trip to Kenya!

The Maasai-accompanied nature walk is an absolute must and was one of the highlights of our trip. The location is good, right next to the park gate, and the tents are spacious and clean. Staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful with our questions. The food was very good and drinks were reasonably priced. Special thanks to chef Richard for making us a custom meal, and to Elisabeth for a wonderful massage. The facilities feel a bit old compared with other lodges, which is the only reason I gave four stars. Still, it’s a lovely camp and good value for the money.

We really liked Kibo Camp’s clean, spacious tents, and the camp itself is beautiful. The pool was pleasant and clean for cooling off, and there’s a bar and lounge by the restaurant where you can relax or have a drink. An ostrich wanders around, and a group of small monkeys regularly visits too. At the entrance, a hostess welcomed us with wet towels to freshen up, both on arrival and when we returned from game drives. The buffet was varied and plentiful, though I found some dishes a little bland and too Europeanized. The local options were the better choice for us. The waiters also tended to clear plates before we’d finished eating. On our last evening, we ordered two aperitifs twice. The next day, we were asked to pay for four because they said we’d ordered doubles. We had signed written proof of our orders the night before, but they still accused us of lying. Maybe the waiter had served doubles by mistake instead of singles. In the end, we paid more than we owed to stop the discussion and continue our safari. Mistakes happen, but good service should include admitting them and communicating well. It’s a shame this spoiled our impression of the camp and staff.

The staff were excellent, the resort was beautiful, and the food was delicious. The covered tent rooms were very nice and had several fans to keep cool. The big drawback is that many rooms don’t have Wi-Fi. At check-in, staff told us there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, but we later found out that rooms nearer the lobby, restaurant, and bar tents do have it. People were talking about this during meals, wondering why some guests had to sit in the lobby to call or check messages while others could do it in the privacy of their room or porch. At Kibo’s nightly rate in 2026, Wi-Fi should be available to everyone.
