Naro Moru River Lodge

Duncan was great, and the campsite itself was good in a nice location. Breakfast, though, was very poor. The eggs were freshly made and good, but the pastries, bacon, cereal, and bread were stale. The juice was listed as watermelon, but it was watermelon and beetroot, and about half the food information sheets were wrong. One said spring rolls but there were samosas, and another said eggs but there were boiled eggs.

At night, bring a head torch if you want to read, since the room lights are only central. That was the only downside for me. The toilet accessories were wonderful and the loo paper was lovely and soft, if that matters to you. We stayed two nights at the Fishing lodge and had such a lovely time. It's an old wooden place with loads of character and memories, with visitors putting up their t-shirts after climbing the mountain. We came for the natural surroundings rather than the more high-adrenaline options. The staff were simply lovely, the service was fantastic, and most of the food was local. Colobus monkeys wander through the trees, and tree hyraxes screech at night. Thanks for making our stay so lovely. I highly recommend it if you want to feel at one with nature.

We spent a week there with a large group, and the staff were so kind and attentive. Everyone made us feel welcome, and James deserves a special mention for going out of his way again and again to make sure we had what we needed. The grounds are beautiful, and the peaceful atmosphere made our stay at Naro Moru River Lodge truly wonderful. Highly recommend!

The river-facing cabins are so peaceful, and there are plenty of things to do, from mountain biking, swimming, and hiking to Mt Kenya excursions and exploring Nanyuki. The service was excellent, with hospitality I'd rate 10 out of 10. Rooms are modernized and sophisticated, and the food is served fresh and hot.
