The wooden floors and chimney fire make for a cozy night's sleep, and the setting gives you a lovely country lifestyle experience. It's great being outdoors surrounded by nature. Food is fresh and exceptionally well prepared, made only after you order. The staff are courteous and work to make you comfortable enough to want to stay another day or night. The owner is around too, overseeing things and making sure you're comfortable.

Getting there takes some planning, since the place is far from the main road and you'll need private transport. Once there, though, the setting is serene, cool, and close to the lake, a hidden gem in Nyandarua. The big, clean cottages suit groups, couples, and families, and there's plenty of ground for camping. You can ride the horses, play volleyball, or sit outdoors. The environment is amazing.

Next to beautiful Lake Ol Bolossot, this is a paradise for bird watchers. The cottages are spacious and comfortable, a nice escape from the daily rush. Staff are pleasant, and you can cook for yourself in the well equipped pantry. If you'd like them to prepare meals, you need to order ahead.

The trip needs a high clearance vehicle, but it's worth it. The rustic lodges have a lovely fresh breeze and are great for a reset. You can spend time with the horses, enjoy good food, then settle by a warm cottage fire each night.
