The daily housekeeping kept the rooms neat, and the shared spaces were a highlight, with lovely city views and sunbeds for relaxing after a day out. Breakfast was delicious and varied, with more than five choices. Arnold made a different fresh juice each morning, a really thoughtful touch. Of all the places I stayed during a month traveling around Kenya, Jambo House was the best. It felt like home as soon as I arrived. Arnold, the owner, went above and beyond. He knows the island well and has local contacts, and was always ready with help, advice, and good recommendations. He treats his staff and guests with real respect and care. It felt like more than a place to stay, and I’d love to return. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

We took the cheaper downstairs room and Arnold kindly moved us to one with an attached bathroom. It worked perfectly for us since we came back late most nights and mainly just slept there. If you expect to spend more time in your room, the first floor may suit you better, as the downstairs room has little natural light and a weaker WiFi connection. Neither bothered us, but it could be useful to know. Jambo House has the amenities of a higher-end guest house at a very affordable price. Arnold is kind, shares lots of interesting and insightful things about lamu, and really makes an effort to keep you comfortable and happy. He’s thought through the details, from useful island advice and information posters to filtered water and beach towels on request, plus power banks for charging and light during outages. The terrace is a lovely place to relax, and I loved having breakfast there each morning. It was delicious, thanks Fred for feeding us so well. The experience here is hard to match, whatever you call the accommodation.

The room is simple, but has everything you need if you like to travel simply. Arnold took the time to explain everything before we headed out, including tours and tips. Fred, who works there, makes the best pancakes and does a super job cleaning the rooms. Everyone was really nice and friendly. I truly recommend it and hope to come back one day. Lamu is a gem!

Good rates, cute rooms, and a lovely upstairs terrace where you can relax. When you arrive, the owner explains Lamu and points out the best places for food, activities, and prices. A great place to sleep in Lamu. They have a

The breakfast was a highlight, fresh, healthy, and tasty each morning. Nothing fancy, but it did the job, and the banana pancakes are a must try. Eating on the peaceful terrace in the sunshine, surrounded by nature and the feel of Lamu town, was a perfect start to the day. Arnold gave me a great introduction to Lamu and JamboHouse, including a map of places to see and things to do. His tour guides, dhow captains, and masseuses were people I could trust for quality and price. He also picked me up from the jetty and made the directions to the BnB easy. Before booking, he patiently answered all my questions, and the stay turned out even better than the already spectacular Airbnb reviews had led me to expect. It’s a budget hotel, nothing fancy, but the rooms, washroom, and shared areas were clean and had the basics. The place has character, and you can feel Arnold’s care and effort in it. Meeting him and staying at JamboHouse made my time in Lamu. I can't wait to return. Asante sana Arnold and the team, god bless!
