It's close to the town centre, though not right in the middle, and generally fairly quiet. There's a club nearby, so weekends can be noisier. The meals are great, but order ahead or you may wait ages for your food while an Uber driver gets frustrated. There aren't any Ubers here yet, so you can also try the restaurants around the venue. The rooms are simple and minimalist in a good way, very clean, and a bit better than you'd expect for what you pay. The blankets are heavy, which helps in cold Nyeri. Staff are super friendly and accommodating, and the manager is usually around if you need anything. I'd definitely stay here again. And yes, Google Maps, I know the way, no need to ask.

On my first visit, the restaurant didn't impress me. It's dusty and needs an upgrade. The location and architecture suggest a lot of potential, but right now it falls short of Ibis and Eland.

Sunguest is clean and smart, with nice attendants and good security. The meals from their order-to-cook restaurant are among the best, and the meeting rooms are well organised, including private board rooms. There's free Wi-Fi, with routers on every floor and speeds over 300mps. All Kenyans are welcome. It's a lovely place for a meeting or a night, and I'll keep staying in their rooms in NYERI. The restaurant looks nice in the photos too. Thanks a lot 😍😍😍

The rooms are spacious and nice, but the customer service is poor. Media offices on the first floor mean there's a lot of movement in the building. WiFi is weak, and noise comes from the nearby nightclubs.

Be careful staying at Sun Guest Hotel in Nyeri. My colleague and I checked in on 02/03/2020 at 7:15pm, with me assigned Room B57 and him B60. We went downstairs for dinner at the same hotel and were greeted by the manager, Mr Kariuki. He left while we ate, then came back when we were ready to pay, less than 30 minutes later. When we returned to our rooms, both doors were open and had been broken into. Two laptops and a phone were gone. We found Mr Kariuki again and went to reception. He told us to report it to Nyeri police, saying it had apparently "never happened" at the hotel before. We filed the report, OB number 98/02/03/2020. The officer assigned to us said he'd start on it first thing in the morning. While we waited for the police the next day, Mr Kariuki said he was going to the canteen, disappeared, and switched off his phone. The officers couldn't reach him to ask questions. We were then told this wasn't the first time people had been robbed at Sun Guest. Management refused to take responsibility and put all the blame on the receptionist, Catherine. This was an awful experience. If you're looking for accommodation in Nyeri, Sun Guest Hotel is the last place I'd choose.
