Watching the sunrise from the lodge was something special, and magnificent elephants were around from the moment we arrived until we left. We slept so well in the most comfortable beds. The rooms, decor, atmosphere, food, and drinks were all second to none. We were looked after beautifully the whole time, including during a magical evening by a bonfire lit for us. I had such an amazing stay at The TreeTops Lodge and can’t wait to go back. 👍

From the window, you can watch elephants, rhinos, and other wildlife gathering around the waterholes. Treetops is built up in the trees, so the stay feels like an adventure, but the cozy rooms and friendly staff make it comfortable too. A really unique safari experience with a touch of luxury.

Waking up to wildlife at the waterhole just outside, with Mt. Kenya in the background, made my birthday feel like a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. We loved the peaceful setting, delicious food, and warm service at Treetops Lodge in Nyeri. We stayed on 5-6 February, the same dates Queen Elizabeth was there in 1952, when her father, King George VI, passed away and she unexpectedly became Queen. Being at such an iconic, historic place on those exact dates gave the occasion a special sense of meaning and magic.

The lodge is an easy road stop on the way to or from Samburu National park, and a welcome escape from the city. We had stayed here over 20 years ago, so we appreciated the changes, especially the ensuite rooms and new reception area. Peter met us when we arrived, and Moses shared fun facts about the wildlife in Aberdares National Park as well as the fascinating story of the lodge and Queen Elizabeth’s stays, first as a Princess and later as Queen. Beatrice and Lorna were attentive in the restaurant and happy to help with our requests. Paul, our guide, alerted us when animals came to the waterhole. We were lucky to see elephants, a black rhino, hyenas, and hundreds of buffalo, along with lots of crested cranes and ducks.

We saw several elephants drinking at the waterhole overnight, along with so many buffalo. The welcome was warm from the moment we arrived, and everyone was friendly and helpful. Francis was a great driver on our two drives in two different parks. He was knowledgeable and attentive, and we saw lions, lots of rhinos, and much more. Susan made sure we had what we needed at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The service throughout was wonderful and the food was great. I’m gluten free and could always find something to eat. They even put on a little birthday show for me after dinner. It was such an unexpectedly pleasant stay, and I’d recommend it to everyone.
