Perfectus Gardens Hotel

The location is handy, just off Thika Road, though Kimbo and Ruiru Roundabouts can get very busy. The indoor space had a generally good ambience. I booked a hall for an event and was assigned someone to coordinate with. I sent a down-payment using the paybill details they shared, but it seemed there was no system to match payments to bookings or anyone checking them. As a result, I missed the hall I’d been allocated. The person handling my booking became very brusque. Luckily, they gave me another room on the day, but it was smaller and not in the colours I’d requested, purple or pink and white. It was navy blue and red. 🫣 The food was tasty and fresh, but the portions were far too small: about 6-7 tablespoons of rice, two small chapati pieces, 3-4 pieces of meat, and a teaspoon of vegetables. The plate looked barely filled when served. 🫠 I was told children, even those under five, had to pay for food. They counted two children as one plate, although some didn’t eat at all. The waiter counted 34 people, but there were 28 adults and six children, only three over five and three aged three. I ended up paying for 34.

The food was fresh and well prepared, and the staff were friendly and attentive. At Verona Hotel at Spur Mall, Ruiru Kimbo, the fourth-floor space feels warm, clean, and relaxing. Nice for a meal or just hanging out with friends. I’d come back to enjoy the food and atmosphere again.

The gym was the one part of my stay that was okay. Everything else left me badly disappointed, and I don’t feel the place was worth what I paid. I was on full board, but there were only 3 items to choose from, and I didn’t like how the food tasted. I tried to leave, then one of the directors noticed and asked the kitchen to make me a burger. From the photos you can see why that didn’t help: it didn’t look like a burger, and the mince meat was barely defrosted. Even worse, they were selling pork at a place marked halal. I found that ridiculous. The service was awful too. The marketing manager made a mistake on my bill, and the guy receptionist treated me as if I was going to leave without paying. Staff were even laughing about knowing their service was bad. It’s been a while since a place disappointed me this much. I had one of the worst times and wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone.

The pool staff were lovely, and the water was warm. The food was okay too. But when I asked the reception lady to validate my parking ticket, she answered very rudely and had an attitude.
