Mr.Tawfiq really made our first visit to Lamu memorable. He arranged a sunset dhow cruise at a very modest cost and upgraded our room for free when he found out we were celebrating a birthday. He’s very friendly and goes out of his way for guests. The Swahili food was excellent, especially the "samaki wa kupakwa". We’ll definitely visit again.

The restaurant has a pleasant setting and is easy to get to, but the visit was only average for me. Staff were courteous, though they weren’t especially attentive. Cleanliness needs work, since a tidier space would feel more welcoming. I also tried the gelato, and neither its flavor nor texture stood out. There’s potential here, but service, hygiene, and food standards all need more attention.

We came back for coffee many times and had lunch at the restaurant several times too. The brownies were great, and the pizza and curry were good as well. Coffee was reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. At first it was a bit confusing that the coffee people work independently within the restaurant.

We had a very good stay and the food was nice. The hospitality was very good too.

The sea view is nice, the architecture is beautiful, and breakfast was good. But the rooms are far too expensive for what you get. We paid $135 per night for a rather small double room, with no bathroom mat, shower gel, shampoo, or bottled water. The shower and sink weren’t very clean when we arrived. It’s a decent hotel, but overpriced.
