Basecamp Masai Mara

We spotted a leopard from the restaurant at night, across the river, which was the highlight. The tent overlooked the river, where animal sounds carried through the night, and it even had an outdoor shower. Saruni Base Camp is beautiful and has an unbeatable location. The tent was spacious and clean. Although the camp is unfenced, the 24x7 guards made us feel safe. Staff were courteous, the food was exceptional and nicely presented, and the limited menu had something for everyone. A lovely mix of wilderness and comfort.

Best food I had in Kenya, and the room was comfortable even though it was a tent in the park. The staff and service were great too. I stayed three nights and could easily have stayed longer. I couldn’t have picked a better place.

As the tour leader and owner of the travel company that booked the lodge, I was really impressed with our stay. The staff were warm, attentive, and helpful the whole time, and our waiter Brenn made dinner fun and special every evening by going above and beyond. The dinners were excellent, and the breakfast and lunch boxes were among the best I’ve had anywhere. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and pleasant. We appreciated the whole team’s hospitality, and I highly recommend the lodge.

Every tent faced the river, a lovely view with morning coffee or after a game drive. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with plenty of hot water. For a tented camp, the amenities exceeded our expectations. Evening turndown included a hot water bag in the bed, which made chilly nights cozy. We also appreciated having mineral water for drinking and brushing our teeth. Saruni Basecamp Masai Mara gave us a true safari feel with modern comforts. The location was excellent, letting us be among the first vehicles entering the Masai Mara in the morning. The food was delicious, service was top-notch, and communication in English was excellent. Staff were kind, attentive, and professional. Highly recommended if you want comfort alongside a real safari experience.
