We felt completely at ease here, with a peaceful atmosphere that was great for proper rest. The staff were kind, polite and helpful, even replacing our mattress promptly when we needed it. The place was clean, tidy and well maintained, and the excursions were organized flawlessly. We were very happy with every part of our stay at Gecko Resort and would gladly return. For the price, the room felt very bare. There was just a stool and a hard chair on the balcony, with no view and nowhere cozy to sit. The room was far from reception, and the pool was too, since you have to go to reception to collect and return towels. It seems to be a stopover for Italian tourists, and didn't feel suited to a vacation.

At least six bartenders and waiters were standing around, but after I ordered they just said “okay” and then ignored me. I waited and never got served. Their manner felt rude and unprofessional, and the whole thing left me feeling unwelcome. A bar should care about its customers. I wouldn't recommend this place after such poor basic service.

The rooms were nice, with good AC. I loved the bathroom, it was spacious, very clean and neatly kept.

Bad experience. They didn't seem to care about reservations, the room wasn't what had been advertised, and the place isn't along central Watamu.
