King House hotel

The location is almost comically bad. There are train tracks right beside the hotel, with loud trains passing constantly, and a garbage disposal facility across the way that brings a horrible smell. Even if you can live with that, the hygiene is abysmal. They charge 3000 som a night, or 2000 if you're 'a regular'. Rooms aren't cleaned, and you get one roll of cheap, single-ply toilet paper per week. Breakfast costs extra and was as bad as you'd expect. For 3000 som, there are some pretty good high-class hotels, like hotel gold dragon, with a 5 star room. If the price has gone up by the time you're reading this, there are others. I have no idea how this place got so many good reviews. Honestly, there's no reason to stay here unless you hate yourself or want to book somewhere for your worst enemy.

After a long trip, I was expecting a hot shower, but got only a few drops of cold water, with soap on, and staff who seemed surprised and unwilling to help. The same thing happened in all 4 rooms. We felt much more welcome and comfortable in yurts off-grid in the outback than at this capital hotel.

The room and bathroom were clean, the sheets smelled fresh, and the room was large. There was also a pool and a breakfast buffet. But the shower had very weak water pressure, and there were no bedside lights. The instant coffee at breakfast tasted bad. The hotel is well away from the center in a somewhat shady area, right by the railway, and trains woke me six times overnight.

The staff were very dedicated and friendly, and the hospitality was at a high level. We felt like we were staying with family. It's an excellent hotel, highly recommended.
