Peak Lodge Living Quarters

After a day of hiking, that dinner really brings you back to life. Every evening you can order salad, dessert, soup, a main, bread, and three kinds of drinks, and it's simply delicious. The hotel is perfect, especially the dinner, which I found even tastier than in Bishkek!

Peak Lodge sits on a small hill above jyrgylan village, about a ten-minute uphill walk from the village. The staff member handling WhatsApp and the phone was lovely and very helpful, arranging transport and kindly accommodating a change to my dates. I really enjoyed my break there. The room was pretty, comfortable, and had more amenities than I needed, including a free minibar. It borders the neighbors’ hay barn and farmyard, though. The chef was the highlight: every meal was amazing. All the courses, from salad through dessert and mains, came out together, and every dish was excellent, even the bread. One thing felt quite inappropriate. About three hours before checkout, while we were relaxing in the room, a staff member knocked and asked us to let other guests in to look around. He brought them straight to our door, so it didn't feel like I could say no. I was in PJs and shorts and had to hide out of sight.

The dish we got wasn't what we'd ordered, and the staff neither apologized nor offered to correct it. We had to ask for a replacement ourselves. That was part of a thoroughly disappointing meal, and we won't be back or recommend the place. Service was slow, and we didn't feel welcome or properly looked after. The staff seemed uninterested in making the meal a good experience. Several of the most appealing menu items weren't available, and what remained didn't seem worth the price. The beers were barely chilled, a basic letdown for a restaurant presenting itself as high quality. The food tasted as though it came from cans or packaged ingredients, with little freshness, flavor, or imagination. The venue also felt underwhelming and didn't match the atmosphere its image promises. We had high hopes, but the quality fell far short of what the establishment claims to offer. There are much better places to eat in Kyrgyzstan.

After a long off-road trip, I spent two nights here and it was just right for resting, unwinding, and taking stock. The cabins are beautiful, the staff are great, and the food is delicious. Such a fantastic stay, highly recommended.
