My wife left her mouth guard in the room, and the staff thoughtfully kept it and sent it to us in Karakol for $5 on a Mashrutka. They were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast next door was excellent, and surprisingly filling without being all bread.
Dinara Guest House is a strong contender for my best accommodation in Kyrgyzstan so far. The whole complex was in great shape and easily the cleanest place I've stayed on this trip. The hospitality was superb, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I would have extended my stay if I hadn't already committed to a long stay in Bishkek. It's right in the town area, with mountains only a few minutes' walk in any direction and the lake close too. A great base for exploring the area's landscapes. I hope to come back when I'm next in Issyk-kul!
We travel here every year, but this time Dinara treated us with arrogance and disregard. She gave the room we had booked to foreigners, apparently because they had come from abroad and were considered the ones to be treated kindly. Then she refused to return our prepayment of almost $30. I don't understand why we should be treated this way in our own country.
We had an amazing time. The host was so kind and accommodating, and helped arrange a driver for a fantastic sightseeing tour. Highly recommend, in summer or winter!
