Hotel Rayan

The rooms were comfortable and the service was good. Breakfast came with the stay, but I found it average. Otherwise, a pretty nice hotel.

The service at Rayan was a real pity. We had trouble cancelling one night of our booking and staying only two nights. The hotel initially said it couldn't cancel because we'd booked through an online company; the company then said only the hotel could do it. When we took that back to reception, they said they would cancel the night and not charge us. Thanks, but the back-and-forth was confusing. My daughter accidentally broke a dish at breakfast, and they charged us 500 soms ($6.00 approx). At the front desk, the man insisted it had been specially made for the hotel, though we'd seen the same dishes at hotels around the country. I asked for the money back in cash, but he said reception didn't have any, even though most people pay cash. We'd been travelling around Kyrgyzstan for over three weeks, and Rayan was much more expensive than most hotels with similar rooms and breakfasts. The rooms were quite comfortable apart from the A/C. It failed on our first night, so we were moved, but the A/C in the second room didn't work either. Breakfast had a decent selection, though it wasn't as good as at other nearby hotels. The hotel could be lovely, but its customer service was so poor.

I liked that the hotel is trying to be eco-friendly, and the little shop selling national handmade souvenirs helps local craftsmen. The place felt calm and homelike, with a modern, attractive design. Service was excellent, and breakfast was quite good, especially the delicious salads. Thanks to the hotel heads and staff for their respect and service.

The first night was uncomfortable because the AirCon wasn't working. The hotel staff got it sorted the next day and compensated me accordingly. I had a big, comfortable room with a sofa, a nice bed, and a great location. Breakfast was the best.
