JATI Koh Russey

The only thing I’d change next time is when we visit. Weekends get busy with people staying just one or two nights, so we’d try to avoid them. Otherwise, we had a fabulous five nights at Jati, Koh Russey. The villa was spacious, modern, well equipped, and had probably the most comfortable hotel bed we’ve ever slept in. The facilities were great, and the free water sports were a bonus. There’s also a jungle trail of about 2-3 km that’s fun to run or cycle. Staff were smiling and helpful from our arrival at the mainland pier through checkout. The restaurants served good quality food. Sarun and Bora at the beach restaurant were especially lovely and helpful, and Eal welcomed us and handled our checkout. Thank you, we’d visit again.

The arrival lounge was a nice place to wait for the boat, with cookies, soft drinks, coffee, and beer. Roundtrip boat transfers are included in the room rate. I think a private transfer outside the offered time slots costs extra, though the slots follow the flight schedule, so you probably won’t need to book outside them. The resort can also arrange a car from the arrival lounge back to the airport for $30, or an SUV for $50. We felt refreshed and were already thinking about coming back by the time we left. The villas have a lovely mix of privacy, comfort, and luxury, with thoughtful details, and the staff were warm and attentive from the moment we arrived. There’s plenty to do at your own pace, whether that means staying in your villa, exploring the island, or relaxing by the beach. The spa stood out for its serene setting and deeply relaxing, beautifully done treatments. Jati Koh Russey felt like a special island getaway, and we’d recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, memorable stay.

Breakfast was outstanding, with plenty of choice and quality. I tried stir-fried noodles, eggs Benedict, bircher muesli, and, best of all, mango. Lots and lots of mango. We’ve been helping ourselves to the fallen mangoes by our villa too. They’re delicious, and it is mango season after all! We’d spent five days rushing around the temples in Siem Reap, so a slower stay at Jati Koh Russey Island was just what we needed. The trip from the airport to the jetty and resort went smoothly and comfortably. Our villa is spacious, has all the modern comforts, and comes with a huge, comfortable bed and a great shower. We had dinner at the Asian restaurant last night and were surprised by both the quality and the price. It came to US$52 in total. A meal of that quality would cost about US$120 back in the UK. We have two more nights here and are looking forward to trying more dishes at BAI SOR. We also had a quick lunch at beachfront Sin Sin and really enjoyed it. The duck pancake rolls were full of flavor and piping hot, the hand-cut chips were good, and the salad leaves were well dressed. We also had avocado, stem broccoli, and baby kale, both dressed with mustard French dressing. Lovely lunch at the Sin Sin beach restaurant at Jati Koh Russey Island Resort. Very, very happy with the whole experience. We’re enjoying the Robinson Crusoe life on Jati Koh Russey Island while visiting Cambodia from London.

We spent a week at Jati Resort and really didn’t want to leave. We’d come back without hesitation. The activities kept us busy: bikes were available for our whole stay, and it took about 30-60 minutes to cycle around the island. There are tennis and paddle tennis courts, yoga, kayaking, snorkeling gear, and fishing equipment, plus a tennis instructor if you want one. We tried fishing and caught crabs rather than fish, but the restaurant kindly cooked our catch for free. Kayaking and snorkeling were great too. The water was clear enough to see corals and marine life from the kayak. There are quite a few sea urchins in one small area, but they’re easy to avoid, and other parts of the beach are lovely for swimming and exploring. Our Beachfront Pool Villa was beautiful and spacious. The living area opened fully to the outdoors, and the bathroom and shower felt close to nature while still being private and comfortable. Having our own pool and direct beach access was fantastic. We could swim in the sea, take a dip in the pool, and relax in the sun whenever we felt like it. The spa was lovely, and the resort’s design fit its natural surroundings well. It’s the only hotel on the island, so the place felt private and peaceful, perfect for switching off in nature. The staff made it especially memorable. They were caring and attentive, even offering turn-down service. If we didn’t show up for dinner, they might call to see if we were coming before the kitchen closed. When my boyfriend felt unwell with acid reflux, they provided medicine from the nurse’s office and checked on him the next day. That care really meant a lot.
