This review is only about the trekking activity. We joined the homestay’s three-day, two-night trek, led by Mr SMEY and a ranger from the Kachok minority. Smey was an experienced, funny guide who kept safety in mind throughout. He and the ranger made excellent meals and helped whenever we needed them. The jungle trek was impressive, with several places to swim and rest. It’s set up to be tourist-friendly, but don’t go without preparing. The trek is demanding physically and mentally, and the jungle can be hostile. You need to be fit enough to carry your own things and keep walking for three days. For us, it was a unique experience in Cambodia.

A lovely guesthouse and a nice trek, with a very welcoming, friendly family. Dinner with them made for a great atmosphere, and the food was good. The lady was especially kind and helpful, even booking our bus to Preah Vihear. Definitely recommend it. Thanks again.

This is a proper family-run homestay. Mr T and Ney made us feel very welcome, and their three kids are adorable. They all speak good English, and Ney also gives English lessons to the neighborhood kids. There are dorms, double bungalows, and a family bungalow at fair prices. You can join the family for dinner, and breakfast is also available for a fair price. The bathroom is basic, with no hot water and a flush toilet, but it does the job. They make a good effort to cut down on plastic and offer free water refills. It’s just outside town in a rural, authentic setting. A good place to stay.

The family are so caring and welcoming, and the place feels really cozy. We had a family dinner for $2.50, with plenty of delicious food. You can rent scooters there and book buses to the main spots around Cambodia. I also did the three-day jungle trek, which was one of the highlights of my trip and very well organized. One of the best places I’ve stayed in southeast Asia!

I loved my time at Ratanakiri homestay. Mr T is such a kind person and does as much as he can for other people and the environment. The homestay is incredibly friendly, and the jungle trekking tours are amazing. I recommend booking a jungle tour with Mr T.
