Angkor Comfort Hotel

We booked on their website, but the hotel couldn’t find our reservation, even though we had the confirmation on our phone. They then charged us $5 more because they said the cheaper rooms were unavailable. Yet when we checked online, those rooms still appeared available that night. Since their booking system was at fault, it would have been courteous to charge us the lower rate.

We paid just $20 for a one-bedroom room, and it was good. The location is one of the best, right by the independent monument, and there’s an elevator. The newer rooms are in the back building, but they were full when we stayed. A sky bar is also due to open soon, so I’d come back to try that building. There’s no pool, for anyone wondering. The staff were friendly, and the young man at the parking lot was especially helpful.

Angkor Comfort Hotel is a decent value if you want to be near the center of town. Sightseeing spots and restaurants are close enough to walk to, and there are two elevators, which cuts down on waiting. I found the accommodations simple and in need of upgrades, but restful enough for a budget stay. The rooms are spacious, with air conditioning and refrigerators, and the bathrooms are large. Some rooms have a bathtub. From a river-facing room, you can catch the sunrise along with a view of the Independent Monument. The hotel has responded to earlier feedback, though there’s still room to improve and make it more appealing. It has potential to become a standout choice with some refinements.

The room had plenty of space and comfortable furnishings, with modern decor. The bathroom was bigger than I expected, and came with hot water, clean towels, and free toiletries. I also enjoyed looking out at either the busy street or the peaceful Sang Ker River. Angkor Comfort Hotel is only a few steps from the lively Riverside Night Market, which made getting around easy. The staff were friendly, and free WiFi and complimentary parking added to the stay. I had a fantastic visit and the hotel exceeded my expectations.
