Mr. Leng and his wife made the place feel welcoming and gave us a really authentic experience. We loved the gardens and the help arranging tours, as well as breakfast and the stories from Mr.Leng in the morning. Sitting and relaxing on the front porch and having beers on the roof at the end of the day suited the laid-back atmosphere perfectly. The experience was beyond a five star rating.

Mr Leng made our eight nights at Fish Island Bungalows especially enjoyable. He's a real character, seems to know just about everyone in the Fish Island community, and takes real pride in the resort and in making sure guests enjoy their stay. His remorque tours were very good and cost very little. We took the sunset island tour, went to see the bioluminescent plankton, and visited his friend who makes palm sugar. It was all interesting and great fun, with Mr Leng singing as he rode and telling funny stories. When we sat down to settle the bill at the end, he asked what we'd had, so laid-back and trusting of our honesty. The setting is also lovely, with well-kept gardens and a spacious outside terrace furnished with decent furniture. Our simply furnished room had a large, comfortable bed, fridge, kettle, very good air conditioning for sleeping, plenty of electrical sockets, and good lighting. The bathroom had a good hot shower. Tea, coffee, and drinking water are provided, and you can refill bottles for free at two water stations. The location works well too: it's an easy walk of about 20 minutes into town along the river, where friendly locals set up stalls in the evening and often say hello as you pass. This was one of our most enjoyable stays while travelling around SE Asia. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely return.

We loved the rooftop bar, especially the views over the Kampot River and Bokor Mountain, and there were cats and little kittens wandering around too. Mr and Mrs Leng's homestay sits right among local Cambodian life. Our room only had fans, but two of them made sleeping comfortable, and the bed was good. The shower had hot water, and Mr Leng also offers laundry and motorbike rental. I'd happily stay here again when I'm back in Kampot.

The bungalow was rustic but charming, and getting into central Kampot was easy: about a 20-minute walk beside the river and across the motorbike bridge. The lights along the way made the evening walk scenic, and a tuktuk back cost around $1.50. Mr. Leng was an exceptionally welcoming, helpful host. He arranged a great day out to Kep National Park, the crab market and a pepper plantation. Breakfast was another highlight, with a delicious omelette and great coffee. The cockerels' morning chorus got me up in time for it. I used earplugs for barking dogs, which seem fairly common in Cambodian cities. The bungalow is by the river, so insect repellent and the mosquito net may come in handy, though I didn't see many insects during my early December visit. A lovely stay, with lots of happy memories. Thank you, Mr. Leng!

We went on a tour together with Mr Leng and had dinner too, which was really nice. The breakfast was very good as well. We stayed two nights with our son, and appreciated how available Mr Leng was. It's quiet, close to town but out in the countryside near rice fields.
