Kampot Sunny Hotel

If you’re a light sleeper, you may want to reconsider this hotel. In my experience on the fourth floor, the rooms aren’t soundproof, so you can hear people talking outside. Noise from the fifth floor also comes through as a drum-like vibration when someone does something up there. At night, car horns on the road can be heard through the window too. Bathroom cleaning could be better. That said, if you sleep deeply, aren’t bothered by noise, and don’t need a very clean bathroom, there are good reasons to stay. The location is central in Kampot, near Durian roundabout and the night market. The staff are very hospitable and responsible. When there was a problem with a booked room, the hotel replaced it with a more expensive room for the same price. The room was clean and spacious, and the bedroom was kept clean. There were no bad smells in the elevator, at the room entrance, or in the bedroom. Thanks.

We stayed at Sunny Hotel in Kampot from 19-22 February 2026. Afterward, we discovered that our GoPro Hero 13 Black was missing from the room. It had been kept in a black case with batteries and charger. We’re certain we never took it out during the stay, and it suddenly disappeared. We contacted the hotel right away and initially got a brief reply saying nothing had been found. We followed up politely several times, but the hotel has stopped responding. We understand things can get misplaced, but the lack of communication and willingness to investigate seriously is very disappointing and concerning. We hope the hotel improves its lost-and-found process and communication with guests.

The hotel was okay, nothing special. The rooms were spacious, but we had to force plugs into the sockets. When we asked about it, staff said, “push hard.” Breakfast wasn’t anything amazing, and the Western options were very limited. I’d skip it and go to a nearby cafe instead.

The room was old and smelly, and there was noise around the hotel at night, so I couldn’t sleep properly. After shaving one morning, I left my shaver on a small table by the bed and went out for a while. When I came back, the blade was missing and the bed had been made, even though I hadn’t asked for the room to be cleaned. I raised it with the manager, but instead of trying to help, he said they couldn’t know what I’d done with my things before going out and that I should have put up a do not disturb sign. There wasn’t one in the hotel. So be aware, someone can enter your room at any time without your consent. Avoid this place at all costs. The hotel and manager were both very bad. I strongly advise the owner to fire the manager and hire someone better, because he’s such a liar. This hotel isn’t trustworthy!
