The Square Kampot Hotel

The food was good, with nice flavor and quality, and my room was clean, comfortable, and well kept. I enjoyed my stay at The Square Kampot Hotel and would recommend it as a good place to stay in Kampot.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. The AC couldn’t cool the room properly for its size, and the fridge smelled awful, like a dead mouse. The room itself had a strong unpleasant smell and lots of ants, and the floor wasn’t clean. The elevator was too small for several people at once. I paid $55 a night, but it felt more like a $15-20 room.

The location worked well, about 3 km from the riverside restaurants, and the staff were friendly and responsive. My suite was a good size, though the bedroom AC made a terrible noise when I arrived. The maintenance team fixed it within two hours, which was good. Breakfast was a letdown: there wasn’t enough of anything for the number of guests, and the coffee was stone cold. I also noticed a slight drain smell from the bathroom.

It’s a solid value for a comfortable stay, and I’d consider coming back to The Square Kampot Hotel. The place is modern, clean, and well maintained, with friendly staff who helped with directions and local tips. My room had what I needed for a short visit and was comfortable. Breakfast costs $5 per person separately from the room. I thought it was good value: fresh food with both Western and local choices, served in a clean, welcoming dining area. The hotel isn’t fancy, but it’s convenient for getting around. It sits right on the main road, with a large parking lot that’s useful if you’re traveling by car or motorbike, and access to town and nearby sights was easy.
