Moonlight Resort

The dome design is really cool, and the peaceful atmosphere made this a lovely place to get away. The price was surprisingly affordable for the quality and experience. Every staff member was friendly, attentive, and ready to help with a smile. I had an amazing stay at Moonlight Resort and would highly recommend it. 👍

The staff were friendly, but seemed lost when anything went wrong. Nobody knew how to fix problems, and the manager didn’t appear bothered. It felt as if no one in charge cared whether things worked. Karaoke from other guests went on late into the night, and nobody at the resort stepped in. We paid $2,200 for seven nights in the Family Villa with Private Jacuzzi, over $300 a night, making it one of the island’s most expensive places. I’m writing this so people know what they’re actually getting. The listing promised a fully equipped kitchen, but there were only three coffee cups and two wine glasses, and no TV despite the listing mentioning one. The jacuzzi hadn’t been cleaned in over a month. We asked about it, but it took three days for anyone to do something. The food was the worst part. Half the menu wasn’t available on our first night. The shrimp was cold and looked a day old, and my partner got food poisoning. I ordered a medium rare steak for $35, absurd for Cambodia, but it arrived well done. There’s a better steak next door for half the price. Dinner also had to be reserved, with meals chosen in advance even when the restaurant was empty. Breakfast was so bad that every morning we walked to the resort next door and paid for theirs instead. The WiFi didn’t work at all during our stay. Staff didn’t know why, and it was never fixed. Hot water worked maybe half the time, and staff said the system couldn’t handle the number of guests. Room cleaning was late or didn’t happen, and they never replaced the coffee or water. To get water, you had to ask at reception, where a 0.5L bottle cost $1.50. A 1.5L bottle was $5, somehow more expensive per liter. I tried not to let it spoil the trip, but this resort was a waste of money.

There’s no hot shower, only cold. The bathroom was dusty and filthy, with gecko droppings everywhere. I’m not picky, but this was the worst experience I’ve had. There’s a big difference between worn decor and poor hygiene. You shouldn’t have to put up with a lack of basic cleanliness. Help yourselves, don’t come here!

I’m not looking for somewhere modern or fancy, but the room wasn’t clean and the bedsheet was dirty. The light didn’t work properly either. The place gave me the feeling of an abandoned resort.
