Robinson Bungalows

We loved the food, especially the Khmer curry and street-food-style noodles, and nearly tried everything on the menu. Both rooms we stayed in were clean, very comfortable and looked out over the beach. The team at Robinsons were brilliant and helped us plan what to do next. They gave us very clear directions, and the trek to the property added to its charm. On arrival, we were greeted with a cool drink and beautiful views. After weeks of travelling, the quiet was just what we needed. A real gem on KOS, with lovely beaches, tranquil surroundings and warm, welcoming hosts.

The accommodation is a good 35-minute walk from Saracen Bay. We found the heat made it a bit tough, so bring water, but the location is worth the trek. It’s basic, homely and comfortable, and great for switching off. We ate most of our meals there because the food was amazing, and personally we liked it best among the restaurants along the beach. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Free paddle boards were great, and we rented kayaks from a place down the beach. We chose a private taxi to Koh Rong instead of the ferry, which leaves from the other side of the island, and the staff arranged it easily. We had a great stay and were sad to leave.

The common areas and restaurant are stylish and well looked after. The menu is small, but everything we tried was delicious. Prices are a little higher, understandable when everything has to be brought to the island, and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The bungalows sit on a beautiful, secluded beach, though the location isn’t very convenient. They’re rustic, basic and somewhat neglected, especially the worn bathrooms with dried varnish. There’s no soap or shower gel, the lighting is dim, and only cold water is available, which wasn’t mentioned when booking. We paid around €70 a night and felt the value was a bit high. Breakfast isn’t included, and this was the only hotel where they didn’t provide free water. There’s no Wi-Fi in the bungalows, only at the restaurant, and it almost never worked. Fine if you want to disconnect, but be aware if you need internet. If comfort and fully equipped bungalows matter most, this may not be the best choice. For the setting, quiet and good food, it can be worthwhile.

Five nights in a tent right on the beach was such a good way to check out from life. The food was delicious. That mango pancake with muesli, yogurt and honey was epic, with bold flavours, and a cold coconut was a lovely way to start the day. Spring rolls and papaya salad were both spot on for snacks. Happy hour at the bar was a relaxing place to enjoy sunset drinks. Thanks for having us.
