The location is good, but there are plenty of other hotels to choose from, so think carefully before booking this guesthouse. The room was in very bad condition, with cockroaches and ants all over. The AC took a long time to cool it, and the tiny toilet had no mirror. There was a basin above the pan with no connecting pipe underneath, so water ran onto my legs and feet when I turned on the tap. No slippers or basket were provided. When I asked, they gave me soap and a toothbrush. The gate was closed after 11 pm, and a woman opened it after I knocked. The next morning I went to reception at 7:30 for the included breakfast, but nobody was there. I found two middle-aged women behind the reception room and got no response when I asked about breakfast. After half an hour, one said the receptionist would arrive at 10 and that she was sleeping upstairs. I waited until 9, then went back to my room. When I returned to reception after 11 to leave my key before going out, I complained, and she gave me breakfast. I told the receptionist I would check out at 6:30 the following morning for my 9:35 flight and asked if breakfast could be ready at 6. She said yes. At 6:10, there was again nobody at reception. The same two middle-aged women were asleep on the lobby floor. I called to one; she woke up, opened the gate, then went back to sleep. When I asked about breakfast, she said no. I've traveled to many countries and stayed at many hotels, and this was one of the worst experiences I've had.

The filthy, noisy street and the stench and grime hit as soon as you walk in. This place fits its surroundings. I thought Thailand had shown me the worst of Southeast Asia, but Cambodia seemed much worse to me. Phnom Penh felt like a huge sh*thole, and I’d tell people to stay away from the city. Better still, spend your money in a nice Western country and skip this petri dish of a continent.

It's a good place to stay, with friendly staff and bars and restaurants nearby.
