Kolab Sor Phnom Penh Hotel

The room was clean, and the night staff and bellboy were nice. The morning staff seemed less friendly. I had booked through Agoda, but the booking didn't seem to come through, so they were scrambling to find me a room. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were hard as a rock. The rainfall shower was nice, and room service from the rooftop restaurant was good. Don't order a smoothie, though, it tasted like the dairy had expired. It did the job for my one night before I left Cambodia, but it wasn't a favorite.

We found a deal on Expedia for around $40 and really enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean with minimalist decor, and the wifi and AC worked well. Breakfast was included, with both Western and Asian choices. We got up too late to try the omelettes, but the setup looked like a chef was making them individually. We also got to enjoy the SkyBar. There are public computers in the lobby, where you can print boarding passes or other documents for free, up to five pages. After checkout, they kept our luggage while we explored the city and arranged a taxi to the airport.

One of the good hotels I've stayed at. It's quiet and feels like a peaceful place to stay. The Skybar was the most interesting part. It's not big, but it's a nice spot to sit and talk, get some fresh air, and unwind, whether you're on your own or with your partner.

I’ve dealt with five drivers waiting outside the hotel, and every one of them acted the same way. Most drivers are happy with $2-3, but these guys charge about double and even add fees for stops along the way. After agreeing on a fare, be careful on the return trip too: they come up with excuses and ask for more money. The hotel itself is decent and the breakfast is good. I’d walk a few metres down the road and pay one of the drivers there instead. They seem more reasonable. I’m done with the ones at the entrance.
