The location worked fine, and the staff were nice, though their English was very limited. Our room was a massive old meeting room and the hotel was clean, but sewage smell came into the bathroom because something wasn’t plumbed right. We had to keep its door shut or the whole room smelled awful. Our friend’s room didn’t have that problem. Breakfast was nice, if a little busy during Chinese New Year. The spa was disappointing: the water looked murky, and the hot pools were only switched on when people came to use them, so they were lukewarm.

The restaurant has a nice view, but the rest of our stay fell short even though we didn’t expect much. There was a mix-up with the booking, and they said we still owed money when we’d already paid in full. Our room smelled of cigarettes and the place was noisy. At 5:30 on the first morning, a man outside woke us on a loudspeaker. We asked to move rooms, but then heard drilling or something above us, along with what sounded like furniture being moved.

The staff were extremely polite, helpful, and well behaved, and the bathroom was clean, thank god. But my room could have been kept much cleaner: there were lots of long hairs on the floor, so I called housekeeping to sweep before I left. The room was huge, and the amenities were alright, but the food wasn’t great and the coffee was terrible. Breakfast is served from 6 to 9, yet when I went at 6:30 the food was already cold. Wi-Fi was really slow, and after 7 pm I couldn’t get an internet connection. I wouldn’t come back.

The location was okay, but the cleanliness was poor. After the traffic getting here, finding a clogged toilet bowl and soiled bed sheets was really disappointing.

I’d recommend this hotel to others. I’ve been treated very well by everyone working here, especially John at the Front Desk. He goes out of his way to meet my needs and makes it feel like they genuinely care. Great value.
