The sheets were dirty and stained, the toilet seat was broken, and there were rat droppings in the bathroom. By 3am, we decided to stay put and leave first thing in the morning. We’d booked three nights in a superior double because the photos looked nice for our first days in Cambodia. After 18 hours travelling from the UK, we arrived at 12:30 and were taken quickly to a room that turned out to be the standard double, which costs significantly less. I’d paid for the superior two weeks earlier. When I asked for the room I’d booked, they said none were available until morning and wouldn’t refund the price difference. We could see empty superior rooms, but they tried to convince us we hadn’t booked one. I waited an hour while reception spoke to the manager on the phone. Then Booking.com notified me that I’d been marked as a no show.

Nika at daytime reception was especially friendly and helpful, including helping me recover a phone I’d lost on a tuk tuk. The coffee and water were free, and I’ll definitely come back on my next PP stay. When the a/c failed at 1am, they moved me to another room. Great location too.

For a quick stopover, it’s okay if you keep your expectations in check. Our room really suited a short stay, which worked since we were in Cambodia for only two days as part of our Indochina trip. The bathroom was small, looked unclean, and had yellowish stains that made showering uncomfortable. The staff were lovely and helpful. There’s no elevator, but they kindly carried our luggage upstairs, which we appreciated. Just know the hotel is surrounded by bars, so a quiet night’s sleep isn’t likely. Earplugs might be your best friend, lol. It’s a basic place, and you get what you pay for. Probably not ideal for a longer visit.

We left first thing the next morning. Our current hotel feels like bliss compared with this place, which was a deathtrap of a stay. The bathroom smelled vile, like a septic tank, and I couldn’t stand being in there to use it. I was afraid to shower in case I caught an infection. The room smelled of mould, and the bathroom odor spread into it. Then I saw a giant cockroach come out of the bathroom. I’m deathly afraid of roaches, and after that I couldn’t use the bathroom at all. There were rat droppings on the towel by the toilet. I alerted staff, and one person locked the bathroom door behind him, poorly cleaned the towel, turned it into a bath mat, then tried to make me believe there hadn’t been a towel there. I kicked the towel with the remaining poop out of the room. There were also traces of rat feces lying around the shower. Staff were uncooperative and showed no remorse when I raised these issues. We’d booked two nights, but there was no refund, and disclaimers around the hotel say they don’t provide refunds. It’s safe to assume many people have checked out early because of the poor conditions. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! It deserves zero stars if that were possible. I’m giving it one out of kindness.

I checked out within two hours. The first room had broken AC, and the next one smelled bad. After lying on the bed for 30 minutes, I started coughing a lot and had trouble breathing. They had no other rooms, so I gathered my things and booked somewhere else. I explained everything to staff on the way out and asked them to waive the fee since this wasn’t my fault. They flat-out refused, no refunds! The second room also had very bad locks, like they’d been broken into. Appalling management. I would not recommend this place.
