SUN & MOON, Urban Hotel

The staff were friendly, polite, and attentive to people’s needs, and the service was excellent. The rooms were really clean and comfy, with an amazing view. The pool was so nice, and the hotel gym was quite well equipped. Breakfast in the morning was good too. Great location close to touristy areas. I’d recommend it :)

We came for the New Year's Eve dinner and BBQ buffet, but it was a very disappointing experience. The drinks list was basic, with just one white and one red wine by the glass, and no sparkling or rosé, which seemed odd for a special event. The food selection was poor too: fish nuggets, chicken sausage, small prawns, and chips, with no stir-fried vegetables, sweet potatoes, taro, or cabbage. The “cheese board” had a very poor selection, only two cheeses. Service was also lacking. Our plates weren’t cleared after the first, second, or even third course, so we stacked them in the middle of the table ourselves. We even had to ask for water to be poured into our glasses. It felt like a cheap combination of food, drinks, and service offered for a major profit. The location and view don’t justify it.

The room was spacious, with high ceilings, a big comfortable bed, four pillows, and a mini-fridge. The rooftop bar was the best part of my stay, though it closes at midnight, and the pool shuts at 8pm. Breakfast costs $12 if it isn't included. There’s a $90 deposit, plus a $10 charge if you bring a guest back. They have to show and keep their ID. That rule gives you an idea of the neighborhood, with lots of lady bars down the street. It could be a shock if that isn’t the kind of entertainment you’re looking for. The Wi-Fi was unsecured and slow. There’s only one key card, and it’s needed to run the power and air conditioning, so you can’t charge devices or keep the room cool while you’re out. If your room faces the street, expect loud music and karaoke from nearby bars until 2am, then construction at the hotel starting at 7am.

The room was huge and had the best bed I’ve slept in in SEA. The restaurant food was good, but extremely expensive for Cambodia. There’s a great pool, though be warned it’s right beside the redlight area. The rooftop bar has a nice view that makes the $4usd beer price easier to accept.
