The Bridge Club

The room was spacious, but the dated decor and design felt poorly chosen. It also wasn’t clean, with hair from a previous guest on the sheets. The air conditioning barely worked. There was no phone in the room, and the number listed on Google Maps couldn’t be reached, so I went down to the lobby to ask for maintenance. Someone fixed the aircon, but it stopped again about two hours later and stayed broken for the rest of the night. I couldn’t rest properly and left very dissatisfied.

The location is great for visiting the area, and the pools are fantastic, with a Jacuzzi and steam room too. We’d booked a one-bedroom river-view apartment by email, but arrived to find a city-view room on the 27th floor instead. It was decent anyway. Nearby nightclubs made it somewhat noisy from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. The buffet breakfast was $5 per person, which seemed fair for the food they served.

Cockroaches came out all day from small cracks in the wall and under the sink, making the room unpleasant and hard to enjoy. Staff service was another big problem. I experienced rude, disrespectful treatment toward foreigners, and it seemed some guests were favored over others instead of everyone being treated equally. Several facilities on the 39th floor weren’t working, including multiple sinks in the men’s bathroom and the steam room. The Bridge Club looks good in photos, but it didn’t feel like a luxury hotel and the stay was frustrating. The one reason I’m giving it a star is that the free WiFi worked reliably throughout the building. If you book for the “luxury” look, lower your expectations. It felt more like a leisure or fitness facility than an upscale hotel.

The air conditioner flooded my room. They fixed it quickly, but I was still left with a bad feeling about the stay. I had to ask for compensation, since they didn’t offer any. They only replied five minutes before I left, when it was no longer useful. Not a good experience.
