Kakrona Pouk Homestay

We loved being outside the chaotic centre. It felt like staying in the jungle, but everything was still close enough, and the roads felt safe to ride, so renting a motorbike from the homestay worked perfectly. The bungalow was cute and had everything we needed. The owner made us feel at home, invited us to drink with his friends, let us try local food, and even brought us along to his cousin’s wedding. There were sweet dogs, mangoes everywhere that we could eat, and a cool parrot too. This was definitely one of the highlights of our Cambodia trip. I can’t recommend the place enough!

Meta and his family were the best part of my stay. They helped with everything I needed and gave me great tips for the area. He even met my overnight bus and took me to the accommodation at no extra charge. The rooms were rustic but comfortable, and it was peaceful being away from the city centre. It was still close enough to reach the temples, eat in town, and enjoy what Siem Reap has to offer. Thanks for everything!

I’ve been here for three weeks, and the quiet, happy days have been a joy. The hosts are so attentive and friendly, they seem to know what you need before you ask. There are also plenty of interesting places nearby, including a crocodile farm, a silk factory, and floating villages where fisherman families offer boat tours. Angkor Wat’s ruins were my main reason for coming. The host showed me around, took me to beautiful spots, and shared ideas for places I could explore on my own. He also took lots of great photos and videos for my channel. Within walking distance there are cozy cafes for meals or a comfortable place to work with air conditioning, coffee, or a smoothie. For simple, affordable local food, the hosts can cook generous portions of hearty Cambodian dishes. There’s no special menu, but you can ask for something specific. I liked letting them choose, and they surprised me each day with something new from the local cuisine. The garden around the homestay is lovely, a peaceful place for meditation, solitude, or just taking in the beauty and simplicity of rural life. Sunsets over the fields are stunning, and I’ll remember them forever. The hostess used her home sewing workshop to make me special white clothing. That same evening, I meditated at a local temple while Buddhist monks chanted. She also helped sew dresses to my specifications, making it personal, and the host arranged the temple meditation, which made the experience even more unforgettable. If you want to get away from the city and settle into village life, with cows, smiling locals, and the meditative sounds of nature at night, this is an ideal spot. There’s no car noise, just peace and harmony. It’s a lovely retreat for rest and time in nature.

Waking up in a bungalow among rice fields for sunrise, then watching the sun set at the end of the day, gave me memories I’ll keep forever. Kakrona Pouk Homestay was an unforgettable way to see Cambodia’s countryside and culture. I enjoyed being part of daily routines and seeing local life up close. So many moments were special: time in nature, Angkor Wat, a local school, a Cambodian birthday party, the silk farm, driving around, seeing crocodiles, and the delicious local food.
