Mayura Hill Resort

The staff, led by their French manager, gave us five-star service when our car developed trouble on arrival. They called a mechanic, arranged for the car to be serviced at a garage, kept us updated and helped us communicate with the mechanic. Thanks to their help, we made it safely back to Phnom Penh. We enjoyed our two-night stay. The grounds were lush, the villas a good size, and it seems to be one of the better equipped hotels in Mondulkiri. The weather was pleasantly cool, so we didn’t use the pool. There were more insects and bugs in the villa than ideal, but it was manageable.

We left a day early after a disappointing stay. Our room was full of ants and wasn’t cleaned, and we ran out of water and toilet paper. The weather was pleasant, but we couldn’t open the windows because there were no screens or mosquito net, and there were lots of mosquitoes. The "Deluxe Villa with Mountain and Pool View" looked out onto a tin roof and cleaning supplies. The dining room photos on the website showed upholstered chairs, tablecloths, curtains, European food and red wine, none of which we found. The General Manager had staff defer to her before they helped guests. She said there was "no red wine in the entire town," but the next day I found several places selling it, including a wholesaler. After getting food poisoning at the restaurant and being up all night, I went into town to eat at an Italian restaurant. She was there and had the nerve to ask what I was doing there.

A beautiful, quiet spot tucked low among the surrounding nature, with a lovely forest feel. You can hear birds, flowing water and a gentle breeze. Bring mosquito repellent.

This resort is well run, clean and tidy, with elegant villas that are fully equipped and working. It’s outside town. Breakfast was okay, while dinner felt a bit pricey. Compared with similar hotels in the country, I’d give it five stars without hesitation.
