It’s on a hill with a great view all around, and as far as I know it’s the city’s first and largest hotel. The price is reasonable, and it seems suited to a large group or team. Some rooms have rather old decor, and a few of the toilets weren’t very clean.

The bathroom was very basic, though it had hot water. Rooms were okay but quite bare, and the staff didn’t speak English. There’s no bar, but canned drinks are sold over the reception counter. The restaurant is across the road and struggles with large groups. This is a very basic hotel aimed mainly at Cambodian guests. There are several interesting looking guesthouses close by in the town centre, and I’d try those first.

I stayed here with friends in 2008 and returned last week, hoping to revisit those memories from 12 years ago. It was sad to find the hotel closed. A sign said it was shut for renovation, but there was no visible renovation work, just a few guards and a lot of mess.

The location is great, with lots of birds in the trees around the hotel. The shower’s hot water is an issue, and the Wi-Fi is slow in the rooms.

A terrible hotel. The reception was very poor, rooms were dirty and uncleaned, and the staff didn’t speak English. There were some unbearable smells, and people were shouting from 6:30 in the morning. The restaurant and its service were even worse. This is a no-go place, not even a one-star stay!
