Angkor Orchid Central Hotel

Update June 16, 2019 Hotel closed. For sale. The location is good, and it could be a worthwhile investment at the right price, but it needs renovation. It's an older hotel, which is fine, though the building is in disrepair. There's no elevator at this price point, as you'd expect, but someone will help carry your bags. The bathroom lighting isn't good enough for shaving or makeup. Breakfast is included and pretty good. It could have potential if management brings in a building engineer.

The little front patio was a great spot to hang out or meet up with friends, and the location made it easy to get to the old market and downtown sights. I stayed five days and felt very comfortable thanks to the staff, who went above and beyond. The rooms were spotless, simple, and really nice.

The halal breakfast was a big plus, since this is the only hotel in the town center serving one. It's just beside the night market but stays quiet, with over 300 shops and restaurants only a three minute walk away. The staff gave five star service, the rooms were spotlessly clean, and the rates were very reasonable. Great value, highly recommended.

I was hesitant about the $12 nightly price, but my two nights at Angkor Orchid Central Hotel went really well. The front desk was courteous and ready to help, and the hotel offered great tours. It's across the river from town, yet markets and pub street are under a five minute walk away. I'd highly recommend it for a stay in Siem Reap.
