The pool was lovely, the location was great, and the staff seemed friendly at the time. But our room didn’t look like the advertised photos, and during our four-night stay we found a dead cockroach in the room and another one left on the stairway the whole time. We left a fair review on booking, then the hotel cancelled our stay there so they could charge us and remove the review. I read more reviews on booking afterward, and the hotel seems to respond negatively to people who point out areas to improve. I understand Cambodia and tourism had a hard time during Covid, but calling people out for being honest doesn’t seem like a good way to rebuild a business. Some questionable business practices going on.

Twin Bayon Boutique Hotel is tucked into a quiet alley near the busy city centre, and I found the location a real plus. Its design mixes modern and traditional Khmer styles, with elegant, carefully done decor throughout. The room was roomy and tastefully furnished, the bed was wonderfully comfortable after days at the Angkor Wat temples, and the ensuite bathroom was spotless, with a refreshing rain shower. The staff made the stay memorable. They were consistently attentive and quick to help with requests, from arranging tuk-tuk rides and sharing local tips to organizing tours to the Angkor temples. They also welcomed me warmly on arrival, made check-in easy, and took time to give me a map and suggestions for sites and restaurants. It felt like a hidden gem, with luxurious rooms, lovely decor, great service, and a convenient spot in Siem Reap. Twin Bayon Boutique Hotel exceeded my expectations, and I’d happily return on another visit.
