River Bay Villa

The owner and name have changed since before. My stay was very comfortable, especially the bed and bedding, and I liked the lovely pool. The rooms sit back from the road at this river-fronted property. It’s a quiet location by Cambodia standards. Just be prepared that you may need to leave your scooter outside overnight. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful place.

I ended up staying two weeks at River and Villa because I kept extending my visit. The back rooms are beautiful, quiet, and surrounded by greenery, and the swimming pool is lovely, with no chemicals in it. There’s a nice restaurant out front and cafes nearby. It’s closer to Angkor Wat, while the center is an easy five-minute ride by bike or scooter, which you can rent at the hotel. Tola is sweet and funny. I’m so grateful I stayed there and will definitely return.

The owner was very nice and happy to help with requests, and there are some great restaurants close by, including Peace Cafe Vegetarian. We were glad to be among the first guests at this recently renovated hotel. Everything felt new and modern, with spotless, spacious rooms and new sheets and towels. It’s about a 25-minute walk from the center, or a tuktuk costs just over $1.

Good value for the cost, with clean, well-kept rooms and attentive staff. Most staff could speak enough English for the necessary transactions. The pool is small but nice. The greenery in the photos is across the street, and the food shown is hotel fare: the “American Breakfast” was good, while the “Banana French Toast” disappointed a bit. Coconut cookies are made in Cambodia and sold at the Lucky grocery store.
