Golden Takeo Guesthouse

Three years ago I visited Siem Reap by myself, and the hotel I'd booked nearby was overbooked. They sent me here for one night until I could check in there. At first I was unsure because the outside looked so plain, but I needn't have worried. The owner didn't say much, but was direct in business and helpful. There were no hidden fees or surprise charges. The overbooking could easily have upset me, yet I ended up liking this stay even more than the one I'd originally booked. The rooms are on different floors in a townhouse-style setup, which is common here. Mine was private and very clean, with a simple but fresh, sleek design. It had everything needed for a comfortable stay, including small appliances, Wi-Fi, air, heated water, and hangers. The whole experience felt safe, smooth, convenient, and comfortable. If I get back to Siem Reap, I'd like to stay here again. I hope this guesthouse makes it through the difficult covid period. ❤

We visited in April 2019. Comfortable beds, nice staff, and a flexible check-in, plus good value for money. It's a nice house on the first floor of an apartment, with supermarkets, an exchange, and a shop nearby. Pub Street is a 15-minute walk away. Highly recommend.

Set on a quiet lane near Wat Bo, on the edge of town, The Golden Takeo felt peaceful and safe. It's an attractive guest house, with a roof garden and great food, and the service was top-notch. The in-house tuk-tuks can take you into town or to Angkor. For advice on nearly anything, ask Prom, the owner, who's fluent in English and scrupulously honest.

Prom, the owner, is very helpful. The guesthouse is very clean, and as with most places like this, you should leave your shoes outside. The restaurant on the third floor is good, and nothing on the menu costs over $3. A warning about arriving by tuktuk: don't tell the driver to pick you up the next day or agree to go anywhere with them. They may be trying to scam you. Go inside and speak with Prom instead.
