J7 Angkor Hotel

We found J7 Hotel a great base for our trip. Being right in the heart of siemreap made it easy to get to restaurants and city attractions. Breakfast at the hotel was enjoyable, and the in-room coffee and tea maker was handy for a quick start in the morning.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and so helpful. The room was cleaned well, and they even folded the clothes we’d left lying around 🙂. Restaurant staff were just as accommodating, which made meals enjoyable. We arrived before check-in and asked for the best available room. Although we’d originally booked a balcony room, the hotel kindly upgraded us to a larger one. It was raining, so not having a balcony didn’t bother us. The room itself was beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. Breakfast was good, though the egg dishes could be a bit better. We’d happily stay at J7 Angkor again and recommend it for a comfortable, welcoming stay in Siem Reap.

The staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly, and we had a great stay. The interior felt a little dated, and breakfast was lacking at times. The main inconvenience was that the in-room phone didn’t get an answer when we tried housekeeping, the concierge, or in-room dining, on multiple occasions. We had to go down to reception and make requests in person. That took away from the convenience of being in the room. It would have helped to be able to call reception directly, since it’s staffed 24/7.

The spa was excellent and well priced, and the traditional Khmer massage was truly fantastic. Breakfast was generally very good, both the food choices and service, though at 6 am one morning the setup wasn’t quite ready for the early rush. Maybe it was just an off day. Our room was well appointed, but having the closet inside the bathroom door made the design a little strange. We also got off to a poor start when we were assigned the wrong room for our booking, though that was fixed. Then we learned the “executive” lounge was closed for renovations. I booked directly just 3 days before my stay, but there was no notice on the website or explanation at check-in for selling a room as if the lounge were open. Instead, we had to pick up paper vouchers each day, usable only from 2-5 pm, far from the advertised 10am-9 pm lounge hours.
