La Da Kiri Boutique Hotel

The rooms are decent for the roughly $35 price, and the location is good, but I wouldn’t pay more than that. The pool is nice, though the surrounding buildings mean the sun only reaches it from about 12 to 2, so don’t expect much sunbathing. Breakfast felt below standard compared with other hotels. Even at 9am there was hardly anything, and we had to ask repeatedly for fruit and tea. It also seems a poor fit to have a receptionist who doesn’t speak any English when most guests are foreigners.

It was our first trip to Siem Reap and our first time at La Da Kiri Boutique Hotel, and I loved every minute of it. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and can arrange day trips to the temples. It’s just a 6-minute walk from Pub Street and the night markets. The facilities are great, and it works well for families, couples or solo travellers. Definitely recommend staying here.

The restaurants, food and breakfast were good, and the people at reception were nice. The hotel has a good design and facilities, but the maintenance wasn’t at the level I expected. Mosquitoes bothered me in my room and all over the hotel. The staff were hospitable, though communication was difficult because the Cambodian staff’s English was very hard to understand. The language problems were significant.

The location is handy, a few minutes’ walk from Pub Street, the night market, the day market and other spots. It’s quiet at night, and Halal restaurants and a mosque are about a 5-minute walk away. Breakfast is à la carte from a menu, with a buffet of fruit, cereal, juice, coffee and tea. Our airport pickup was on time. The tuk-tuk driver offered a tour, and we used his service for a temple visit from 8am to 5pm for USD 15. It was another USD 5 to start at 5.30am for sunrise. The staff were friendly and helpful, and allowed an early check-in depending on room availability. There’s a lift, so no need to climb stairs. The room was decent, with a very small balcony, cool enough air conditioning, a comfortable bed and lots of TV channels. The TV broke on day two, but staff fixed it quickly. There was a bathtub, though the water flow was slow, possibly because it was clogged. They should fix the shower curtain, since the floor got wet every time we showered.
