Mekong Angkor Deluxe Hotel

The rooms were very noisy, and we didn't sleep at all the first night. We were able to switch rooms for night two. In that room, there was a bathroom switch to turn off the suction and the noise. Both rooms had only two towels for four people, but they brought two more when we asked. The pool water was loaded with chemicals, and there weren't enough chairs for such a big hotel. With our two kids, we ended up sitting at a table in the sun.

A really lovely hotel.

The location and room size were the few things I liked: it’s about a 10-minute walk to the Old Market, and the room was roomy with a balcony. The rest of the stay was a real letdown. The photos had given me the impression that the place would be clean, but my room didn’t match that at all. I found a cockroach in my bathrobe when I arrived. One pillow looked slept on, smelled unpleasant, and had a dirty pillowcase. The bathrobes were stained around the neck, possibly with makeup, and smelled bad too. The bathroom setup was uncomfortable. The sink tap made it nearly impossible to wash my hands properly, and because the shower and toilet share one space, the whole floor got wet after a shower. Breakfast was disappointing as well, with little choice and tiny portions. I left feeling the hotel hadn’t lived up to what I expected, and I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

The staff were friendly, and the pool stayed clean and was hardly ever crowded. Our room was comfortable and everything worked as it should. Breakfast wasn’t anything special, but there was enough to feel satisfied. There’s a good laundromat right next door, and the town center is a 10-minute walk away. Any noise we heard came from other guests being rude.
