Paris Angkor Boutique Hotel

The new building was a nice, clean place to stay. I spent one night there, and the price was what you'd expect for what you get. The surroundings were okay, but there were so many mosquitoes, even inside my room. Please clean regularly or replace the banana tree with something else. That's just my opinion.

I liked the idea of paying $5 extra when the receptionist first explained that the room slept two but could take one more person. After I checked in, I found that the $5 covered only the person, not an extra bed or things for them to use in the room. I'm really dissatisfied with how unclear the explanation was. If I'd known what the charge meant, I wouldn't have booked.

The location is nice, safe, and not too far from pub street or places selling food. The property has a guesthouse in the front building and a boutique hotel in the back. Low-season prices are acceptable, but in high season it can get incredibly expensive compared with five-star places. Many guests are disappointed with the service. They cut costs too much by limiting how long the pathway lights stay on early in the night.

For what we paid, we expected much better service and a better location. The restaurant was closed, something we weren’t told when booking, and there was no breakfast available for an Angkor Wat sunrise trip or any refund for the missing breakfast. On arrival, they pushed us to hire their tuk-tuk driver for a tour before handing over the keys. Nobody welcomed us or helped us get settled in the room. We asked to speak to the manager three times after deciding to stay just one night. The receptionist said he didn’t want to talk to us and that we could leave after the first night, so we booked another hotel that evening. At 10 PM, the manager called and said we could either pay for one night and leave without sleeping there, or sleep there as we’d agreed four hours earlier and pay for two nights. He pressured us on the phone and threatened to call the police, saying it was our fault. He also claimed we hadn’t tried to reach him by phone, which wasn’t true. The manager was rude and dishonest. I’m not usually picky, but this was a first for us after years of travel. They also have two different profiles on booking, which seems a bit suspicious. You can find a better hotel with better service and location for this price.
