The setting is one of the best parts of staying here. The property is about ten minutes outside the city, but Grab tuk-tuks or taxis arrive within minutes. Mornings are blissfully quiet, with birdsong instead of horns and motorbikes. Breakfast is made to order rather than buffet-style, and the quality and presentation are consistently excellent. The banana pancakes, French toast, crepes, and fresh mango, papaya, and dragon fruit were especially good. At this hotel's price, though, I would have liked more variety and larger portions. We were met at the airport by Mr. Den and his driver, with cold towels, cold water, and a comfortably cool ride into town. On arrival, there was a fresh watermelon welcome drink. The whole experience felt warm, calm, and carefully considered. The villa itself is stunning. I've stayed in many design-focused hotels and private villas, and the architecture, flow, and proportions here are clearly the work of someone who understands them. The design is celebrated rather than restrained. Wallpaper in the open-air lobby draws on patterns from the Royal Palace, and ornate Hanuman masks and sculptural details appear around the grounds. The landscaping, service, and amenities all fit together, giving the place a quietly regal feel without being ostentatious. The bedroom design stands out, but the bathrooms deserve special praise too. Details include beautiful mirrors and vanities, brass and gold accents, layered stonework, deep green tile, carved sandstone on the shower floor, and deep gold tile. A large soaking tub and both rainfall and handheld shower heads complete the room. Cambodian influence and classic French design come together in a way that feels elegant, tactile, and timeless. A couple of small things: English isn't the staff's first language, but we could always communicate well enough, and Google Translate helped in the rare moments it didn't. The turndown service was excellent, though a small signature treat would have made it even nicer. When I booked, I found fewer detailed reviews of this property than of other places in Siem Reap, which made me hesitate. I'm very glad we chose it. Phoum Chau Fea is among the most beautiful and thoughtfully designed boutique properties in Siem Reap, if not all of Southeast Asia. The architecture and design are celebrated throughout, which design-focused travelers will appreciate. With the calm setting and genuinely warm service, it's easy to recommend, and the experience stays with you after you leave.

I normally think that if you don't have anything nice to say, you should say nothing, but my stay at this resort was such a disaster I had to write this. I found the whole visit stressful, and the resort was far from town. I'd rather stay somewhere cheaper and closer. The traditional houses looked pretty, but that wasn't enough to make it worthwhile. From the start, communication was a problem. The staff didn't have the English skills I'd expect at a resort like this, and I couldn't get things clearly understood. I booked a one-bedroom HOUSE, naively thinking that meant more than one room, and asked for an extra bed for my son. It turned out to be only a bedroom and bathroom. Since we were literally the only guests, I expected they might offer another option, such as two rooms or a two-bedroom house. The extra mattress on the floor cost $65 US, partly blocked the door, and I don't think other accommodation would have cost much more. None of this was explained clearly to me. I also booked a tour at a big premium and wanted to leave an hour or two later, but was told that was a bad idea. It turned out we would have had plenty of time. The guide wasn't good and didn't tell us much. When I asked about a particular hand-crafted item, he took me somewhere that I later Googled and found was a scam that didn't support Cambodian people, despite what I'd been told. I believe he took me there to make as much money as possible, not to help me. I don't mind people earning a commission, but this felt ridiculous and reflects badly on the resort for hiring him. When I tried to arrange a sunrise tour for our checkout day, I was told I had to be back by 8:30 even though it was an all-day tour. I said I was happy to check out and leave my bags, but she kept repeating that I had to be back by 8:30, so I finally cancelled. I know she didn't understand me at all. One night, after my son returned, security had someone radio and then someone follow him in a golf cart. He only realized it when he moved aside to let them pass and they continued following him until he got back to our accommodation. I understand English isn't this country's first language, but everywhere else I went, restaurants, shops, markets, and other hotels, I could communicate clearly and understand what people said. The communication problems here caused so many issues that I would never recommend anyone stay at this resort.

The setting is peaceful and full of nature, a lovely place to relax your mind. Phoum Chau Fea offers a high-class take on traditional Khmer design, beautifully arranged throughout the resort. The service was excellent too, with polite, friendly, professional staff and a real sense of heartfelt hospitality. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting Cambodian tradition, a quiet atmosphere, and five-star comfort.

I loved the daily complimentary minibar refill, and the à la carte breakfast was top-notch. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the place is peaceful, beautifully designed, and full of charm. Walking into Phoum Chau Fea felt like stepping into a living chapter of Khmer history, as if I were going back 1,000 years into the heart of Khmer heritage. The architecture, atmosphere, and attention to detail are breathtaking. It feels like a living story of Khmer culture, not just a hotel. A hidden gem, highly recommended for couples or families looking for an authentic and meaningful Khmer experience.

The food is fantastic, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and professional. This is a wonderful luxury resort in a traditional Khmer house. Arriving there made me feel amazing, like my soul had travelled back 1,000 years to the great Khmer empire of Angkor. I strongly recommend it.
