The King Angkor Villa

We’ve stayed in some pretty janky places, but we walked out of this one without spending even a single night. There were insects everywhere, along with mould, rot, and general rundown conditions. Ants were feeding on stains on the bedsheets. The location is okay if you want to be near the nightlife, but we naturally couldn’t get our money back.

I spent 6 nights here and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. The location is perfect, close to everything. Hot water worked perfectly every time, and they brought free water and fresh towels each day, which was a nice touch. The only thing I’d change is the air conditioner, which could be improved. Highly recommended!

The location is central enough, and you can get everywhere on foot if you’re fine with a bit of walking. The place works for a night’s sleep, but not much beyond that. The rooms feel rather old, there’s no fridge, and the AC runs very slowly. The beds are comfortable and seem clean enough. The bathroom smelled pretty bad, so I kept the fan on the whole time. The tiny pool sits right by the street. Staff do their job, but not much more.

The price is a little lower than most, but saving an extra $5 a night isn’t worth having your trip soured. The room had a bed and toilet, but that was about all it offered as accommodation. Cleaning and upkeep were minimal, the air-conditioning had problems, there was no hot water or proper parking, and the customer service was poor. The TV was there as decoration and didn’t work.
