The Privilege Boutique Butik-hotel

The location worked well for being close to bars and restaurants but away from the nighttime bustle, so you can sleep. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the rooms were lovely and clean. The photos made it look better than it did in person, though. Our balcony was shaded, the sofa was really uncomfortable, and the pool area gets a lot of shade, so it's not great if you want a tan.

The people working here are incredibly nice and couldn't do enough for us, but there was a lot missing. This definitely doesn't feel like a five-star hotel. There's no cafe or restaurant on site, no room phone to call the front desk, no hand towels, and very little soap or toiletries. The room's AC needed to run full blast for 24 hours before it got properly cold. Poor seals around the balcony, front door, and windows let mosquitoes and other bugs in. During our three-night stay we found two cockroaches, probably after heavy rain, and one coming up through the bathroom sink was an unpleasant surprise. The safe and shower head were broken, the paint was peeling, and the sheets were stained. On the better side, the hotel was completely empty, the pool was a great temperature and seemed clean, and the location was good: away from the craziness but near local markets. I can see how it might have been five-star when it was first built, but it's fallen a long way since. The nightly price was unbeatable, though. You get what you pay for :)

As a backpacker, I booked this to get a break from hostel life. It was a lovely, quiet place and very affordable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and let me check out at 2 p.m. instead of noon. They were always ready to help with anything. Highly recommend!

The relaxing atmosphere made my two-night stay really enjoyable. My room was fresh, clean, and well maintained, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. I had a comfortable stay and would recommend the hotel for its pleasant feel and good service.
