My room was clean but very basic, just somewhere to sleep, with the shower and bathroom across the hall. I was there in March and didn’t have trouble with mosquitoes or other animals; I left the fan running while I was in the room. The location is right in the heart of the old city, with the old night market, shops, and restaurants all walkable. Staff are friendly and helpful, and you can get a local SIM-card, rent a motorbike or scooter, book tours, and get free bottled water right there. Call ahead and they’ll pick you up from the airport for a modest price. If you just need a place to sleep and arrange your Angkor tour, I can heartily recommend Villa Niron. But keep smiling!

It’s really cheap, and you get hot showers, a writing desk, and an electric kettle, little things that matter when you’re travelling on about 10$/night. The place is central, near the night markets, the main road to the Angkor temples, and where lots of bus companies drop people off. Downstairs you can rent motorbikes or bicycles, book onward travel, and exchange currency, though I didn’t use the exchange so can’t comment on the rates. No need to search around for those services. I’d stay again.

I rented a simple bike for a day to visit Angkor Wat. It cost 2 USD/day, was in good condition, and returning it was easy. The staff were very nice. They keep your ID as a deposit.

The villa is very clean and centrally located, and the owner is friendly. The receptionist especially made the stay for me. He was one of the most accommodating and friendly people I’ve met in hospitality, and made me feel like I was among friends in a foreign country. That’s why I’m giving five stars.

Good and cheap, and close to the main city. There’s no room service, but you can wander around all night and walk back to the hotel. The nightlife is amazing.
