Golden Star Inn

The rooms are clean and kept up, look fairly modern, and the air conditioning works well. It's reasonably cheap, but I wouldn't come back. There are serious problems with the staff and the noise, so I'd look elsewhere if you can. Sleep is difficult. At least two construction sites are right next door, with power tools and heavy machinery starting early. There are also at least 15 dogs within 200m, barking back and forth all the time. The hotel has no soundproofing, so after a night out, don't expect to sleep past 8am. The room service women are also very loud, even early in the morning. The location isn't great, far from the beaches and even the main roads. Tuktuks are always around, which helps some. The only bar within a reasonable walk is a grubby place called The Missing Monkey, or something like that, full of 50-70 year old men who moved to SE Asia for sex tourism. Gross. There's a kitchen you can see from reception, but no room service and no food available at all. Staff are a major issue too. The hotel proprietor isn't suited to hospitality: he barely speaks, isn't polite, and is always walking around with his baby on his shoulder. Seriously, get a nanny and learn to host. Most staff speak English well below the Cambodia average, and aside from a few exceptions, they can't manage even basic communication.

Sihanoukville! It was rare for me to arrive somewhere and immediately feel like catching the next bus out.

The hotel is old and poorly maintained, and there are bed bugs and noise. Management doesn't seem to care about guests having peace and quiet. There's no management at all!

Sihanouk ville is under construction, but if you're coming here, this hotel is really nice and the staff are friendly ❤️
